Undertaken in collaboration with Transport for London (TfL), this project was the first in the world to undertake a detailed analysis of PNT-related applications for ITS for urban bus operations – having surveyed more than 14 world cities. 

This created an exhaustive and comprehensive list of applications together with the corresponding derivation of the required navigation performance in terms of accuracy, integrity, continuity, and availability. 

In order to meet the RNP, this project undertook another world first in analysing in detail the impact of the new GPS civil signals in urban environments, with a case study of London. This led to the specification of a PNT system for Urban bus operations that benefit from the strengths of the new civil GPS signals, leading to a significant improvement in location accuracy.
